We love these wrap rolls at home, and they’re often called pizza rolls because of the fillings we use. You can add anything you like into yours, and make them different every time, but this is our favourite filling and method….
- Tortilla Wraps (we use wholegrain or seeded wraps for an extra nutritional boost)
- Cheese – grated
- Broccoli – flowers chopped off the ends
Then just put it all together, so simple your toddler can do it. In fact, I encourage them too. I find my kids are far more likely to eat something they’ve helped to make.
Lay the tortilla wrap out on a board or plate. Pour some passata into the middle and pass your child a spoon. Ask them to cover the wrap with the passata, gaps are fine, thicker bits are fine. In fact, anything goes and the most important bit is that they enjoy doing it.
Let them sprinkle grated cheese all over the sauce, sprinkle oregano over and then add broccoli flowers (they cook quickly rather than having big stalks there). You can add on thinly sliced peppers, mushrooms, courgette etc. Whatever you choose though, just make the pieces very thin so they’ll cook quickly, as you’ll only be using the grill.
When it’s covered, slide it under the grill (we use our pizza peel to do this) and wait for it to start bubbling.
When it’s out of the grill, I leave to cool for a few minutes, then roll and serve.
Trust me when I say this though, you’re going to want to make one for you too, they’re delicious and very moreish!
We usually serve these wrap rolls with a chopped, baked sweet potato and sweetcorn or beans, hummus or chopped tomatoes and cucumber. It all depends on what we have in.
